By accessing or using Carta ("the Service"), operated at carta.cv, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Carta is a resume generation platform that uses artificial intelligence to create resumes from user-provided data, including LinkedIn profile exports, GitHub repository information, and manually entered career details. The Service produces resumes in PDF, rich text, and LaTeX formats.
You must create an account to use the Service. You may register using GitHub, Google, or LinkedIn OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You must provide accurate information during registration. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

Carta uses AI models to generate resume content. While we instruct the AI to use only the data you provide and not to fabricate information, AI systems can produce errors. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving all generated content before using it. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated output.
Generated resumes may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or formatting issues. You should carefully review every section of any generated resume before submitting it to potential employers.
You retain ownership of all data you upload or enter into the Service, including LinkedIn exports, resume documents, and career information. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process this data solely for the purpose of generating your resumes.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content you provide to the Service. Do not upload data belonging to other individuals without their consent.
Carta offers free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing page. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days advance notice. Price changes do not affect your current billing period.
The student tier requires a valid .edu email address and is subject to annual reverification. We reserve the right to revoke student tier access if we determine the email address is no longer associated with an active student enrollment.
The Service, including its design, code, AI models, and branding, is the intellectual property of Carta. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service.
Resumes generated by the Service belong to you. However, free and student tier PDFs include a "Built with Carta" watermark. Removing this watermark without a Pro or Premium subscription is not permitted.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Carta shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of employment opportunities, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, abusive behavior, or at our discretion with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may delete your data 30 days after termination.
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the jurisdiction where Carta is headquartered.
